SUMMER in SUN PEAKS

EXPLORE THE MOUNTAINS

Guests come from all corners of the world to relax in and explore the charming European-style village of Sun Peaks. This ideal mountain resort for families is at the same time a perfect road trip destination. Stress is left behind, and a different pace of life sets in. With so much to do, what will your favourite activity be?

MOUNTAIN BIKING

If mountain biking is your passion, you need to come to Sun Peaks. Ski runs are converted, or extra mountain bike trails are accessible for all levels. Need a guide or want to join a group? Contact Sun Peaks Resort and they will set you up. Also, all rentals are provided in the village.

HIKING

Take the chairlifts up the mountain or start from the village, and then pick from 18 designated breathtaking hiking trails for all levels. We recommend enjoying lunch or drinks on the deck of the Sunburst Lodge. With a little luck you might also see a bear or two.

GOLFING

Surrounded by natural foliage and panoramic mountain views, the challenging 18-hole par 72 Graham Cooke is centred along the valley floor amongst the three surrounding mountains. With the greens located at 1,200 metres above sea level, Sun Peaks weighs in as BC’s highest course.

TENNIS

Located centrally between the Nancy Green's Cahility Hotel and the Sun Peaks Ice Rink will find two public and complimentary hard tennis courts. There is no booking option, so if busy, simply wait or come back a bit later. So get your family out to hit some balls! Just bring your equipment.

PADDLE BOARDING & KAYAKING

People with love for water activities will have a choice of fly fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. Rentals are provided through local businesses or bring your own. Explover McGillivray or other Lakes in the surroundings.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Experience horseback trail riding with expert guides. The trail rides take place in small groups and are suitable for beginner to advanced riders. Riding lessons are available from May until October. Carriage and Wagon Rides can be chartered privately.

SEGWAY

Want to give your legs a break? Join a segway tour and explore the whole European-style village and off road terrain in a unique way. Bookings can be made directly with Alpine Explorers at +1-250-851-1905 or at info@alpine-explorers.com. Their office is in the heart of the village.

FARMER'S MARKET

Regularly during the summer season farmer's markets take place on Saturday mornings and enchant the whole village. Local honey, woodwork, crafts, fruits and vegetable and other items are for sale. This great stroll is often accompanied by local musician at the small stage on the upper end of the village.

SUMMER CONCERTS

Sun Peaks organized a variety of events, including some summer concerts that not only attract locals from Kamloops but also other Canadian and foreign music lovers. These concerts are free, but it is recommended to bring some camping chairs or a blanket.

WEDDINGS

More and more couples plan their wedding in the quaint village of Sun Peaks, both during summer and winter times. You will find all the services you need for your special day - and the pictures will be magical.

WINE TOURS

An easy 45-minute drive down towards Kamloops you will find a variety of wineries offering wine tasting. The desert like climate in the Thompson River area is perfect for the grapes that need lots of sunshine and warm weather. Tours can be arranged from Sun Peaks, so there is no need to fight who the designated driver will be.

DINING

The cook in your family deserves a break as well. 25 restaurants and coffee shops offer families and couples a great selection of food, style, atmosphere and budget. During busy times reservations are recommended. There is only one thing left to say: Bon Appétit !

KAMLOOPS AREA

This emerging wine region is home to several craft breweries and the largest hops farm in Canada. Cultural highlights include the annual Kamloopa Powwow, which celebrates the heritage of the province’s Secwepemc people and is one of the largest celebrations of First Nations culture and heritage in British Columbia.
